It has been created by the owner of the property as somewhere to accumulate potentially useful/interesting information for the letting agent and the house’s current tenants.

And, also, as an ongoing exercise in WordPress customisation.

Privacy

For each visitor, the site’s web server logs the IP address they’re appearing from, the User-Agent string of their browser, and the page they requested.

This logging forms part of the systems in place on the server to block malicious actors (hackers). These log files are only retained for a few weeks.

For anyone with a login, the site also records their last login date and time (which is visible to the site’s administrator).

Cookies

No cookies are set by this site during normal browsing of its public pages.

The exception is the “Log in” page, where a temporary cookie is set to determine if the browser accepts cookies – this cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when the browser is closed.

For anyone with a login, several additional “operational” cookies are set to save login information and screen display choices (login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year). If “Remember Me” is selected, the login will persist for two weeks. Login cookies are removed on logging out.
